Chapter 8
I walked down the hall and made a right turn just like the map said. There it was two doors away, room 5918. I took a deep breath and knocked. I heard something fall "Crap..." I heard Demetri say trying to hide whatever he had "Thorn?" he said making sure it was me. "Yea, it's me. Is it ok if I come in?" I asked "Sure," he said. I opened the door and he was putting a big brown box away under his bed. "What's that?" I asked trying to keep up a conversation. The last thing I needed was an awkward silence. "Oh it's nothing really just a project I've been working on," he told me.
"Can I see it?" "No," he got really defensive al of a sudden "I....mean....not till it's done," he gave me his sheepish grin again. "When is your birthday?" he asked randomly "I don't really know, but I always celebrated it on July ninth, because that was the day they found me," I told him. He sighed of relief "Why do you ask?" "Just wondering really. My birthday is August first," he told me. It looked like he was hiding something, but I didn't want to press it. I walked around his room. I stopped by his dressed and touched the snow globe that was set to the side. I turned the key in it and it started playing a song I didn't know.
"You're wearing the pin," he stated "yea," I said like it was no big deal. I kept watching the man and the woman dance while the little kids watched twirling around in the snow globe. Suddenly I felt Demetri's arms come around me from behind. I gasped. "It looks good on you," he whispered. Oh My GAWD!!! I'm sorry but he sounded so sexy when he said that, I almost melted. And to top it all off he was hugging me from behind. My face went a little red, adding some much needed color to my face.
I saw him smirk in the mirror when he saw my shocked expression. "You finally reacted how I predicted. Maybe I'm getting better at understanding you," I stayed silent and closed my eyes taking in the moment and trying to smooth over my expression back to clam. "Please say something," he said rubbing his nose against my neck. "I'm….a little….distracted at the moment…." I told him. And that was the honest truth. He grinned and let me go. "Sorry, I couldn't help it now that I know we both loved each other," he said the last part in a low voice. I sighed, and began walking around the room. I walked to his small window. I don't know what it is about windows but I love looking out them. It helps me think more clearly.
"You're thinking about something," he stated. Alright I have to admit this is getting a little creepy he is starting to figure me out. More than I can figure him out. I sighed again. "Please say something at least," "Something," I said. "You know what I mean," he said, he was across from me in the next second. "No I don’t know. You may be able to figure me out but now I'm the one who can't figure you out," I said then I got the feeling like I needed to get out of there. I don't know why but it was just a feeling, like there was something bad was going to happen if I stayed.
"I have to go back," I told him as I started walking back to the door. "Why, is something wrong, did I do something?" he asked surprised by how I was acting. "No, I just…ugh It's hard to explain," I said. He grabbed my hand. "Can't you stay for a little bit longer?" he pleaded "Sorry," I told him. "I'll com back soon ok, promise," his grip loosened a little but he didn't let go. "Please, I have a really bad feeling that something bad is going to happen," he face suddenly went blank and his eyes turned white. "Demetri? Demetri are you alright?" I asked worried. I waved my hand in front of his face. "Demetriiiiiii, anybody there?" I asked sorta in a joking tone.
His eyes went back to normal, and he let my other hand go. "You're right something bad is going to happen. Go back to your room as fast as you can and lock your door don't let anyone in. And if they try to break the door down go out the window and run. Get as far away from this place as you can Sam will try to explain his in your room waiting for you," I nodded and ran out. I didn’t stop till I got to my room, and just like Demetri said Sam was right there waiting for me.
"Thorn! Marcus killed Vladimir!" he shouted as soon at I got in. I turned to lock the door. "Why does that matter to me!?" I asked
"because now Marcus is the coven leader now and he's planning on making me a test subject to make the ultimate vampire weapon! They're going to use you too!"
"What why me!?"
"Because they know you have powers too, but you can't let them get you you're the daughter of Marello you can't be caught,"
"The daughter of who??"
"You don't know!?!?!" he expression was shocked "Oh no this is even worse, we have to get you out of here," then there were banging on the door, "Thorn let me in I wish to speak with you," it was Marcus. I motioned for Sam to follow me and I jumped out the window and began running. I saw Demetri pacing back and forth, he must've been waiting for us. When he saw us he began screaming at Sam "YOU WEREN'T SUPPOSE TO TELL HER NOW SHE'S IN EVEN MORE DANGER!!!" and Sam started screaming back "WELL SHE HAS TO KNOCK SOMETIME WHO HER REAL PARENTS ARE SHE HAD A RIGHT TO KNOW!!!"
Ok this was too much I have vampires after me and they're worried about how much information I know, ugh their priorities were all twisted. "CAN WE JUST GO I'M SURE MARCUS FIGURED OUT THAT WE RAN FOR IT!!" I shouted as I started running not even bothering to make sure if they were following me or not. I knew they would though I had the feeling that they knew something I didn’t so I was planning on finding out. "Go right," Sam told me "We're going to Washington," "Fine," I said I didn't really care where we went as long as it wasn't back.
I felt sorta bad for leaving Louie, but now that I think about it I didn’t see him when I was talking to Sam and His bowl of food was still full. I sighed I should've known that was bound to happen when your in a house full of vampires.
"Do I just keep going west or are you going to direct me anytime soon?" I asked, after running for at lease a good two and a half hours. I wasn't tired and my legs didn't hurt, I was just getting bored of running. Yea, I know vampires are after me and all, but I bet they wouldn't be outside at the moment; it was a couple more minutes till sunrise. "No, we're going the right way; my sister Vicky has a house somewhere around here. I think it'll be another hundred miles," Sam said and I was glad that means another two minutes until we got there. Demetri hasn't talked since the argument with Sam, and I was worried about that.
I'd glance behind me to see his expression every now and then. Sometimes his eyes were blank and others they were filled with dread and worry looking back at me. The times his eyes were blank I assumed he was looking into the future so I'd turn to look at Sam, who was always looking back at me. Sam was easy to figure out; I knew he had a crush on me and Clover, but unfortunate for me that he didn't like Clover more. "Ok turn left and it should be there," Sam said, slowing down. I turned left and began walking at a human's pace. Sam looked at me in a funny way, but then he shook his head and went ahead of me.
Demetri came by my side and grabbed my hand. "IF one of us tells you everything please, please don't freak out, alright?" "I'm not making any promises...." I replied. And I meant that, I had a feeling that they WERE going to tell me something bad, and I wanted at least act how I felt. He sighed "Always the rebel," he said in a joking tone, but I could tell he was worried. We arrived at a little house. Sam went to the door and knocked. "Yes, who is it? What do you want!?" We head a high pitched voice say. "Hi to you too sis," Sam said with a laugh. "Sam is that you," she said opening the door a second later. "SAM!!!" she squealed grabbing him into a bear hug. "It's been ages how have you been?" she asked, not even noticing me or Demetri. "I'm in a bit of a jam as you might've already seen. Mind if we come in?" Once he said 'we' she looked over Sam's shoulder.
Her face was slender, yet another vampire no doubt. Her hair was an orangish color, probably dyed that way. She had hazel eyes and she didn't bother hiding her expression when she saw me and Demetri. "My word," she said astound. She looked back at Sam and gave him 'the look' then she smiled "Yes, yes do come in, the sun is bound to rise at any moment now," she told us. Her house was nice on the inside. It was simple, couch, T.V., coffee table, kitchen table, stove, and a fridge. There was a second level and she didn't have any windows. "You have a nice home," I told her politely.
"Thank you Thorn I appreciate it," she answered "How do you know my name?" I asked shocked. It's kinda weird when you meet someone for the first time and they already know your name before you even tell them. "Sorry, I didn't introduce myself. I'm Vicky Barns; I have a gift of seeing people's past once I see their face even if it's a photograph. I saw your past when I saw you at the door, I even saw the part you yourself don't remember, but you will soon enough. I'll go get some blood pack you all haven't drunk anything in a long while," she told me, walking to the kitchen area, Sam turned to Demetri.
"You have to tell her,"
"No, I don't,"
"Why not!? She has a right to know!"
"And risk her fainting and running off out of fear!"
"She won't do that she's stronger than you think,"
"But, why risk it,"
"Because, wouldn't you like to know your past, who your family was, why you got turned!?"
"NO! I WISH I WAS LIKE HERE AND DIDN'T REMEMBER ANY OF IT!!!"
"Well you're just twisted,"
They continued arguing and I left during the middle of their little argument. Not like they cared weather or not I myself wanted to know my past or not. Jeez sometimes boys can be so blind! I watched Vicky open a blood pack. I had to control myself; I didn't really pay much attention to the scorching burn in my throat. I gripped the edge of her counter and she noticed it quickly. "Please don't break my counter," she told me, stirring the blood in the pot. "Sorry...just hungry..." I mumbled, letting go of the counter and balling up my fists.
I think they both finally noticed that I was gone because I didn't hear them yelling anymore. Vicky was done warming the blood, she poured some into four mugs, and I think she gave me the biggest mug. I was glad because once it was in front of me I gulped it down hungrily. I was a little sloppy about it though, and some of it got on my hand. When I noticed it I licked it off like I was an animal and finished off the rest of the blood in the mug. “You must've been starving; you can have the rest of the blood in the pot if you want," When she spoke to me my crazy vampire frenzy stopped. I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand. "Thanks," I said in a low voice, embarrassed by how I was acting. I went to the pot and poured some more blood into the mug.
This time I drank it like I actually had some manners. Demetri and Sam both walking in and saw their mugs and began drinking as well. Demetri let out a sigh once he sat down next to me. "If you won't tell her I will,” Sam said to Demetri. “Alright, I’ll tell her but if she runs I’m personally throwing you off of a cliff and burning you alive,” Demetri said in a dark town, it was hard to believe it was Demetri who had said that. Creeeepyyyy. Note to self never get on Demetri’s bad side. “Fair enough, come on Vicky we gotta let them talk,” Sam said to her. She didn’t’ reply, she just walked out of the room and up the stairs, Sam followed. “Why do you have to tell me,” I said taking a sip of the blood in my mug.
He sighed again, “I’ll start at the beginning.
Chapter 9
“The coven we just ran from they’re called the Lametic clan. Well I was forced to join them when I was only a child Vladimir knew I would be special and would be a great asset to them so they kept me alive and turned me into a vampire. I got to know everyone especially one particular member, Marello. Marello fell in love with a human and the clan disapproved of it. I guess you can say they had a Romeo and Juliet kind of love going. I don’t know why, but he finally told her what he was and she wasn’t afraid or anything. He ran off with her a couple weeks later and they had a child. Marello made me the protector of their baby because I we were so close. I was honored; I was the protector of the first half human half vampire. But when the Lametic found out about it because of loud mouth William who saw Marello tell me about their child when he snuck to see me. They all went to go search for Marello. Once they found him and his soon to be wife, Carmen, holding their child they tried to kill him, but Marello was too strong and they didn’t have enough people to over power him. He got Carmen and their baby as far away as possible and then turned Carmen into a vampire so that she could protect herself and their baby after that he went back to try and settle things. But when he found them they didn’t even give him a chance to talk they just attacked him and killed him. I regretted not getting there in time to help him. When I got there I just saw them throwing pieces of his body into the flames. I went back to go tell Carmen, I knew I had to tell her so that she could find somewhere safe for her and he child. But when got back to their home, she was already gone and so was the baby,” he took breath that he didn’t need and continued.
“I found her by following her scent and she was shaking saying she had to do it. I had asked her what she did and she told me she bit her child so she could be a full vampire, but her baby ended up going crazy with hunger and running off into the woods. She said she tried looking for her but couldn’t find her. Carmen is still alive she was in Mexico still looking but now she’s flying here to come and see her daughter after all these years,” he turned and looked at me. “Thorn YOU are that child you’re the daughter of Marello and Carmen, you’re the one they’re looking for and they mustn’t catch you. I’ve been looking for you for ages, but I never though I’d find you in a restaurant much less feel for you the way I do now,” he told me, I stood up. “My...my birth mother is....alive....” I muttered. He nodded.
After all this time, after all my dreaming of meeting my real parents, I actually have a chance to meet my real birth mother. I was completely shocked and could barely speak. “Thorn, are you ok?” Demetri asked me standing next to me as if waiting for me to collapse. “I....I just need to go lie down,” I told him starting to walk away; I didn’t get that far before fainting landing in Demetri’s arms. Demetri was right, I wasn’t strong enough for that yet, but I’m still glad I know now. My Mom, my real Mom, is alive.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“I told you this would happen!!! Now if she decides to run your going off that cliff!” I heard Demetri say. “Calm down she’s not going to run,” I heard Sam reply “My word a vampire who can sleep. I never thought I’d see the day when this would happen, truly remarkable,” Vicky said in awe
“That’s not the point. UGH when is she going to wake up?”
“Give her a couple more seconds she should be waking up soon,”
“Thank God you can see the future I wouldn’t be able to stand waiting,”
“I’m still ticked off at you so I suggest you take your hand off me,”
“Jeez so touchy,”
I heard Vicky sigh because of them I groaned. “Thorn!” Sam and Demetri both said in unison. I blinked then turned onto my side. I was on a bed and everyone was surrounding me. “Thank Goodness your ok,” Vicky said. “Yea dido,” I didn’t reply at first, I had too much on my mind. “Can you leave me alone for a while,” I said in a low voice. Sam nodded and followed Vicky out of the room. Demetri on the other hand stayed by my side. “I’m pretty sure she said she wanted to be alone,” Vicky said to him. “I’m not leaving her....” he told her. She sighed and left shutting the door behind her. I stayed silent, my back still turned to him. “Are you ok?” he asked me. “I don’t know you tell me. You’re the one who can see the future...” I replied, tilting my head to see his face. “let’s just say I like to be surprised when it comes to you,” he told me, I rolled over so that I was facing him, he moved the hair I just shook in front of my eyes.
“Don’t do that, I like to see your eyes,” I didn’t reply, I had too much on my mind to think about stuff like intimacy. “Thorn....” he leaned in towards me. “I don’t like seeing you like this. Where’s that spunky, rebel girl I met at the restaurant?” he said stroking the side of my face. I didn’t say anything. “Scoot over,” he said getting in the bed with me. I had no choice but to, but when I did I turned so my back was toward him again. He sighed. “Thorn...” he said again, wrapping his arms around me. Again I loved the fact that his body wasn’t as hot as a human. “Please look at me,” he pleaded. I sighed and turned. “There’s my vampire princess,” “I’m not a...” before I even finished my sentence he kissed me. At that moment nothing else mattered. He was here with me. It ended a little too soon for me. I put my arms around his neck and leaned in toward him, waiting for him to kiss me again. And he did a lot longer this time. My real first kiss, I would’ve gotten one a lot sooner if I wasn’t a vampire.
“I love you,” he told me, stroking the side of my face again. “I always loved you,” I told him resting my head on his chest. He hugged me again and stroked my hair. “Get some rest sweet ok,” I looked up at him shocked. “What?” he asked.
“You.....you called me sweet,”
“You don’t want me calling you that?”
“No, no. I like it,”
I smiled and put my head back on his chest. He leaned his head down to whisper in my ear “I’ll do what ever it takes to make sure they don’t find you. I’ll always be by your side. I promise,” he kissed the top of my head and I fell asleep in his arms. And for once I felt like I belonged, and I was where I should be.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When I woke up I was on Demetri’s back and he was running. “Wha....When did I...” “They’re on to us. Or they will be. So we’re getting a head start. You’re a deep sleeper ya’ know,” Demetri said with a laugh. “Where’s Sam and Vicky?” I asked noticing they weren’t there. “They’re taking a different route. Mister lover boy was planning on stealing you away from me. We’re going to meet up with them later on sadly,” he muttered. “I knew he had a crush on me,” Demetri tensed. I laughed internally looks like he doesn’t like a little competition. “Put me down will ya’,” I told him “Not a chance,” Demetri told me looking back at me. I stuck my bottom lip out in protest. “Pleeeeeese,” I said in a cute tone. “No matter how beautiful you look I’m not putting you down. If I do you’ll have your scent all on the trees and dirt. They’ll notice my scent but it’ll be worse if they smelled yours too. And besides I like carrying you,” he smirked. I sighed. Man I hate being carried, it makes me feel weak and I hate that feeling.
He ran for what seemed like a couple hours, he finally stopped when we arrived at a cave. He set me down on a rock. The sun was starting to go down and Demetri leaned against the cave wall and shook his black hair in front of his face. I sighed. “I wonder where she is right now,” I said thinking aloud “She’s on her way here she’ll be here by sundown,” Demetri told me. “WHAT!? REALLY!?!? OH MY GAWD! IM DIRTY I HAVENT TAKEN A BATH, MY HAIR IS A MESS, I....” Demetri grabbed my shoulders and stopped me from pacing back and forth franticly. “Be calm Thorn,” he told me his eyes turning purple. In that instant I was clam. I had forgotten he could control people. “Now there’s a hot spring a little ways north and I brought you some of Vicky’s clothes you two look the Sam size so they should fit fine. Don’t worry about anything it will all work out just fine,” he told me shaking his hair away from his face and winking at me. Again my face got a little bit of color.
He laughed and handed me a bag. I didn’t notice he had with him, “I love it when you blush. Here are the clothes and like I said the spring is a ways north. And don’t worry about the Lametic they’re taking a different route and we won’t run into them at all. Go get washed up,” he smiled flashing his fangs. “Alright, I’ll go. Thanks Demetri,” I gave him a quick hug then dashed north. Just like he said a perfect hot spring. I got undressed and got into the hot water. Boy did that feel good. I haven’t taken a bath in three days. THREE DAYS!!! I looked in the bag for some soap and sure enough there was a brand new bar of dove soap and a wash cloth. Man I love that boy he thought of everything. I started washing myself but then I heard a twig break. I stopped and listened. Some leave rustled.
“Your...Your beautiful...” I heard a voice say. I searched through the bag and jumped out of the spring. I put on the dirty clothes failing to find the clean ones in the bag. I didn’t even both drying myself off with the towel in the bag. “No, no it’s ok, it’s ok,” The voice was closer now “What do you want!?” I shouted “To hug my daughter,” a woman stepped out of the shadows. She had beautiful dark brown hair, perfectly arched eye brows, hazel eyes like mine, and she had the type of curves a human girl would kill to have. I already knew who she was. “Mom,”
Chapter 10
She moved toward me slowly. “It’s....it’s really you. After all my searching. I’ve finally found you,” now she ran and hugged me tightly. “You got so big,” she said tears rolling down her cheeks. I laughed a little, tears coming out of my own eyes. “Hey mom,” I said hugging her back. “A little birdie told me where to find you. Also that you go by the name Thorn,” I heard Demetri in one of the trees “Tweet. Tweet,” he laughed. I wonder how long he’d been there, if he saw me undress. I’m going to have to deal with him later. I turned back to my Mom “Yea, but what were you going to name me? I’m curious;” She smiled “We were going to name you Kelly. It was your father’s idea,” she told me. Demetri jumped down from the tree to our left, and ran to my side.
Mom looked at him in a weird way. “My, my I know we told you to protect her, but I had no idea THIS would happen,” she said, raising an eyebrow. “Hey I didn’t think this would happen either, but it did,” he replied grabbing my hand. “But I must say I’m surprised that she didn’t faint when she say you. She has a bad habit of fainting,” he laughed. I blushed again, “She does that a lot too,” he said brushing his hand against my cheek. “I think you should go back to your bath love. I’ll be back at the cave ok?” He lost me when he called me love. I could get used to him calling me things like that. I nodded. He kissed my cheek and ran off.
Mom sighed and I began taking off the wet AND dirty clothes I had on. Then I got back into the spring. “You’re truly more beautiful than I imagined, “she told me walking to the other end of the hot spring. “Thank you, you’re beautiful too Mom,”
“Thanks. Wow I haven’t heard you call me Mom in so long,”
“How old was I when I started talking?”
“Well.....”
She began telling me stories of stuff that happened when I was little and little by little the memories started coming back. It was like I was looking in an old photo album. My bath was done and I dried myself off with the towel this time. I looked through the bag again and found the fresh clothes. They looked a little big but they should be fine. I quickly put them on and ran to the cave with my mom. Demetri was there sitting on a rock waiting for us and when I got close to him he opened his arms as if he wanted me to sit in his lap. I looked at him confused, he laughed a little “Aw come on you don’t want to tell Goth Santa what you want for Christmas?” I laughed “You’re crazy it’s June,” I replied, but I went and sat in his lap anyway. He wrapped his arms around me folding his hands in my lap. “You smell nice,” he told me moving his nose along my neck. Carmen coughed, “Sorry,” he laughed “First she’s all small and now she’s already has a boyfriend, I missed my baby when she grew up,” “Mom,” I groaned. She laughed “Sorry,” Demetri’s head snapped up. “No,” he muttered standing and quickly having me in his arms like I was a baby again. “Put me down,” I told him squirming. “Shhh....stay silent,” he whispered too low for human ears to hear. “That idiot was supposed to lead them OFF our trail not on it,” he whispered. “We have to go now,” he slung me over onto his back and I didn’t protest this time. He ran further into the cave and Carmen followed. Never knew he had a dirty mouth till today. Talk about profanity. MAN u haven’t seen anything until you heard Demetri ticked off.
A couple minutes passed and I heard more footsteps in the cave. “Demetri,” I said in a low voice “I know,” he replied, then he looked to my mom. “You have to take the right passage they won’t follow your scent but they’ll follow ours. “No, no you can’t take her from me Demetri there has to be another way,” I said franticly afraid that I might not see her again “I’m afraid there isn’t another way if she continues to go our path they’ll catch her and kill her on the spot and you’ll lose control and kill everyone near you...including me,” I stopped breathing and put my head down onto his back, I started crying. Mom said nothing but I heard some tears fall from her cheeks as well. “Now go to the right,” he told her “good bye Kelly,” she said in a loving voice. “Bye Mom,” I replied sadly. He kept running while I continued to ruin his dark blue shirt with my salt water. Then out of no where he stopped. “What’s wrong?” I asked “They surrounded us, just great we have to improvise,” he set me down and began pounding at the wall to out right making a hole. He kept punching at the wall until there was a large hole that we could walk through.
We ran out and didn’t stop, but things were going too smoothly and sure enough here I come and ruin it. They had someone keeping watch in the forest and caught me. “DEMETRI!!!” I shouted. Who ever it was had put something over my mouth. I kept trying to shout for Demetri but it was muffled by the cloth over my mouth. I saw Demetri but they had him too and he was struggling trying to get to me. “LET HER GO,” I began getting dizzy and I started seeing four Demetris then. Nothing.
I woke up chained up in front of a crowd. My hands were spread out so I pulled myself to my feet. “Look who’s awake,” I heard someone say. I looked over and it was Marcus. I didn’t say anything to him, I didn’t have anything to say to him. I glared. “I heard you were quite a rebel, but now you’re the damsel in distress. BRING HIM IN!” he shouted. I felt something warm dripping down my face. I looked town to see what it was and it was my own blood. I didn’t think I would ever be able to bleed but they probably did something to me while I was knocked out. Marcus noticed how I was looking at my blood. “Garlic doesn’t poison us it makes us bleed and with enough it could kill us. Just like a stake it doesn’t kill us it just makes us bleed and paralyzes us. A beauty isn’t it,” Some vampires dragged Demetri in. he wasn’t harmed but he did look tired. Once he saw me his face what grim and he looked like his was ready to kill. He glared at Marcus “Let...Her....Go...” he told him. “Not unless you tell us where the daughter of Marello is. I know you know so why don’t you just tell us,” Demetri laughed “You’re so blind you wouldn’t know it was here if she was dead in front of you,” he said smirking “Well...” Marcus said twirling a wooden stake in his fingers, “let’s see how blind I am shall we,” he stabbed the stake into my stomach. I screamed in pain and then I couldn’t move. “NO!” Demetri shouted as he flinched by my scream. The audience to the sides of him watched intently, as if we were a soap opera. Marcus removed the stake, and I fell to my knees. “Alright I’ll tell you just don’t hurt her anymore,” Demetri pleaded, Marcus smirked.
I focused on trying to start a fire from my hands to burn the ropes around my wrist off. I got a spark going but nothing happened so I kept trying. “It’s her...she’s the daughter of Marello,” Marcus’s eyes shot open and looked at me. That’s when I got the fire started and my whole hands went up in flames. As long as the cat’s out of the bag might as well go out with a bang. The roped burned off and I ran to Demetri and held up my hands to the vampires holding him. “Step away from him,” I told them. They didn’t move, that’s when I got ticked. “Are you deaf or do I need to speak in Spanish for you to understand me,” My eyes turned red and I saw a red tint to my vision. Now my whole body was in flames and the wind was circling around in the room. The lighted started flickering on and off. “I’ll say it one last time...Let him go,” This time they listened. “Come on,” I said to Demetri who stood there shocked. I began walking out the door my body still in flames. “And where do you think you’re going,” Marcus asked me. “Away from here,” I said not even bothering to stop. “So you’re just going to leave your own mother here,” I stopped. Some other vampires brought Carmen in and she was struggling to get free but stopped when she saw me. “What have you done to her,” I shouted the earth started shaking beneath us. “Let her go. LET HER GO NOW!!!” the flames intensified, the wind picked up, the earth shook so much most of the vampires were struggling to keep their balance.
Marcus just smirked “We haven’t done anything to her....yet. That is if you refuse to cooperate with us,” I snarled “YOU MONSTER!!!” I lunged for his throat and he quickly dodged it and punched my back then kicked my stomach not even worrying about the fact that I was in flames. He grabbed me by my hair “Fighter and a rebel yes you would make a perfect bride,” I snarled more then I spit right in his face. Boy he didn’t like that he threw me against the wall, Demetri ran to me since he was still free. “No help her get her out of here,” I told him standing back up. “We’re not leaving with out you,” He told me. Ugh like I said before boys priorities were all messed up. “What ever,” I looked back to Marcus who was waiting for me to attack again. I grabbed some of the wood I crashed into and broke off half of it so that it would form a stake; I put the other half in my back pocket without him noticing. I charged at him and threw the stake, when he dodged I took out the other one and drove it into he heart. His face went blank and he fell, paralyzed. Then what I thought was the audience, attacked me all at once. That’s when I realized they weren’t an audience they were back up in case something went wrong. One of them took the stake out of Marcus freeing him from being paralized. Everyone was trying to attack me and I couldn’t start any fire again but the wind was still strong as well as my earthquake. I screamed trying to fight them all off, I’d hear Demetri and my Mom screaming too but after a while I was bound by them. I saw that Demetri and Carmen had escaped, because Marcus was demanding that they go after them. I suspect that Mom had to drag Demetri because of his one tracked mind he had sometimes.
Knowing that they got away I gave up and knelt there bound who knows how many vampires my face on the floor. “Tricky little girl aren’t you?” I snarled baring my fangs, “Go burn in hell,” I spat at him. I couldn’t get any fire going, and the earthquake stopped along with the wind. “You’ll make an excellent bride,” he touched the side of my cheek that was facing up and I tried to bite his hand. “I’m not going to marry you. I’d rather marry a human!” He smirked. “Take her to her new room, I hope you like it my dear,” He said standing straight up as they pulled me up from the ground keeping a tight hold on me. Demetri and Mom are safe that’s all that matters, that’s all that I was worried about. It was night and a full moon, I sighed. “Sorry Thorn, but we have to do this we have taken a liking to you but we must follow orders,” It was Carl. “Its fine Carl, I understand,” I said in a low voice. I looked to see who the other vampires were. It was the girl playing the guitar and another guy who quickly looked away when I looked at him. I lowered my head and kept walking with them until they led me back to the music room. “You’ll have to stay here until your room is ready,” The girl said. “You never told me your name,” I told her “It’s Sophie,” “Thanks Sophie,” Thanks for locking me up right back where I started! Is what I wanted to say, but I’m trying to make allies not enemies. “I’m Matt,” the other boy said. “Nice to meet you, both of you,” I went and sat by a piano, and Carl closed the door.
Now I wish Demetri was here with me. Some tears fell from my eyes and I pulled my knees up and hugged them. Some people in my position would’ve wished that their life would go back to normal, but I don’t. Because if it did Demetri wouldn’t be in it and I’d be alone again. Darkness....it was how I liked it, but right now I’d give anything to have Demetri with me.
