*this journal lies on Jessica's desk in her room*
Dear Diary,
Momma got me this today. She says it’ll help me keep track of my memories, that I’ll appreciate this when I’m older. I don’t know, but she’s making me do this, and I’m not really sure what to write. Nothing big happened today.
Jessica, six years old
-----------
Dear Diary,
I got a job today. I’m a singer at this inn. It doesn’t bring in much money, but it’s better than how mother works.
Jessica, fourteen years.
------------
Dear Diary,
Mother said I’m going to be a big sister. Not surprising, considering her profession.
Jessica, sixteen years.
-----------
Dear Diary,
It’s a little girl. Mother’s calling her Ariel. She’s got red hair like me, but her eyes are different. They’re not the same grey green that me and mother have. They’re blue. Bright blue. Like the sea. Mother loves her of course, but I’m not even sure if she knows who the father is. She probably doesn’t care, though. Another mouth to feed, guess that means I’m going to have to work extra hours.
Jessica, seventeen years.
------------
Dear Diary,
The innkeeper had the audacity to try and sell me as a whore today! Really! I’m a show girl, not a prostitute. And this strange man came into town today. He’s sending off all kinds of creepy vibes. I’ll need to stay away from him.
Ariel spoke her first words today. Don’t know what they are as I was gone and mom was too drunk to remember, but she was sure that Ariel spoke.
Jessica, seventeen years.
-----------
Dear Diary,
That new man, he came up to me today after my show. Apparently he’s been watching me for a while, the creep. He says he has a proposition for me. He says he’ll make me immortal if I serve him. What a weirdo.
Ariel’s seriously starting to grow on me. I’m actually starting to like her.
Jessica, eighteen years
------------
Dear Diary,
That man won’t leave me alone! He’s really starting to bother me! He keeps on following me! But whenever I try to tell the authorities they can never find him! He just vanishes! I’m starting to get a little worried.
Ariel turned one today.
Jessica, eighteen years
-----------
Dear Diary,
We’re moving, thank goodness. New town, new life mother said. I think she’s going to try to get an honest job. About time. Hopefully that man won’t find us.
Jessica, eighteen years
-----------
Dear Diary,
He found me! After five years of being in a new town he found me! And he’s even more obsessed than ever! He won’t leave me alone!
Jessica, twenty three years
-----------
Dear Diary,
He got me alone at night. The man. He’s a monster. He bit into my neck and drank my blood. And then he slit his own wrist and forced his own cold blood down my throat! I woke up . . . like this. I’m cold. I feel dead. I don’t breath, have a heartbeat. Vampire. He’s keeping me as his servant, his mistress.
I didn’t even get a chance to say good bye to Ariel.
Jessica, age no longer matters.
-----------
Dear Diary,
Apparently, I’ve got powers. Seduction powers. I can control the lust of anyone, make them fall for me. I’m not sure if I can make people lust after anyone other than myself, but it’s not like I have the chance to experiment. I’m barely let out for feeding. I wish I could use my powers to get him off guard, to escape, but he’s got this amulet that counters my powers. They’re useless against him.
Jessica
-----------
Dear Diary,
It’s been ten years. Ariel’s fifteen. Mother’s dead. Some STD or other. Ariel’s working at an inn, singing. Just like I did. She’s a lot better than I was, though. I go to watch her, make sure she’s okay. There’s this one patron who keeps on watching her, but he’s human, and I think his intentions are pure enough. I have to be careful with when I go to see her, though. I can’t let him know about Ariel.
Jessica
-----------
Dear Diary,
Ariel no longer sings at the inn. That patron, he’s hired her as his personal singer. I’m glad. She’s got a place to live now, someone to look after her.
Jessica
-----------
Dear Diary,
It’s been two years since my last entry. I seriously think there’s something going on between Ariel and her employer. Whatever. He’s a little older, but at least he’ll be able to care for her. She
seems happy.
Jessica
----------
Dear Diary,
He followed me. He followed me when I went to check on Ariel! He knows about her now. She’s his next target. But he’s locked me in my room. I can’t warn her. I really hope that handsome patron she's working for now is also a part time vampire hunter.
Jessica
-----------
Dear Diary,
It’s been days since I last saw him. I managed to pick the locks of my chains and get out. I found Ariel in a back ally so well hidden it’s no wonder no one found her. There was no sign of him except for a pile of ashes. But Ariel, she had distinct puncture marks on her neck, and some of his blood on the corner of her mouth. But she was in a cold sweat; like her body was resisting the change. And when I saw what was in her hand, I knew why. It was a needle, the kind that doctors use to give you shots. There was a small puncture in the opposite arm, like she had injected herself with what was in it right before he found her. It had cracked a little, and when I tried to pick it up it burned me. She had filled it with holy water and then injected it into her blood. Smart girl. Smart, brave girl. That’s why he was only ash now! That’s why her body was resisting the change! There was holy water in her veins now. It burned him from the inside out when he tried to drink her, and it was fighting against the infection that was trying to take her over. Smart, brave Ariel. I took her back to his home. It was the only place I could think of.
Jessica
----------
Dear Diary,
Ariel’s still undergoing the change. The holy water is still fighting the transformation, but the infection that he placed in her is also fighting for dominance. I hope the holy water wins. I hope she doesn’t turn.
Jessica
---------
Dear Diary,
She lost. She’s a vampire. But she’s weak. And she doesn’t remember anything about being human. Even I only barely register in her memory. I tried to explain things to her to the best of my ability, but there was no instant memory recovery. But she trusts me. She has no choice. But she’s almost like a child. I’m trying to teach her to hunt humans, but she can’t do it. So she hunts animals instead. I’m kind of relieved. But still, human blood might make her stronger. But I don’t want her to get a taste for it.
Jessica
----------
Dear Diary,
Ten years. That’s how long Ariel’s been a vampire, and she hasn’t fed off of a human, and her powers haven’t surfaced. That holy water, it damaged her. Badly. It’s like it’s still in her veins, battling against her vampire nature. Maybe that’s why she’s only moderately stronger than a human. Maybe that’s why her powers – if she has any – haven’t shown themselves. I still think that Ariel had a stroke of genius when she put that holy water into her blood, but now I see that it’s done more harm than good. Though . . . it killed him. Things would be much worse if he was still around.
Ariel saved us both, but she sacrificed herself to do it.
Jessica
--------
Dear Diary,
I’ve decided that it’s time for us to leave. After fifty years, we’re going to get out of this town, and start anew. Ariel didn’t argue; she just follows me around like a lost puppy. I think if I were to walk into the deadly sunlight, she’d follow me without question.
Jessica
--------
Dear Diary,
We came across a mansion today. It was inhabited by others like us, by vampires. The two in charge are Dimitri and his sister Meg. They welcomed us, made room for us. Ariel loves it here, so I’m okay with it. I just hope that she isn’t outcast for her . . . weakness. Ariel needs friends, people who care for her. She’s not a loner. Not at all. She thrives around people. That’s just who she is. Hopefully she’ll find company here.
And hopefully none of these vampires were friends with him.
Jessica
-------
(I’ll post more of meeting people inside the mansion when I’m more clear on when they came and stuff. Jessica and Ariel came here about one hundred and fifty years ago, and I’m not so sure about everyone else. DX So I’ll wait to be safe. And as you probably guessed, any journal from Ariel will only be about her life as a vampire, as she can’t find her journal she kept as a human (but it will be found eventually.) and therefor doesn’t remember anything about being human. She only remembers Jessica.)
